STUDIO 46

East Kangaloon Art Studio

Studio Description

For more than 40 years Max Miller's studio has been home to Max and Janie Bligh, two creative and well-known artists. Built in 1876 as a school to serve the local area, the original school room first served as a painting studio for Max, then later extended. Built in the garden in 1977, the long barn accommodates an etching studio. In addition to being a highly regarded artist, Max is an expert printmaker who has produced prints for artist such as Lloyd Rees, John Olsen and Frank Hodgkinson. In 2001 a friend designed a purpose-built painting studio to cope with the changing weather and damp that is sometimes experienced in the beautiful Southern Highlands.
