Artist Statement

Kate has transformed her early passion for cross stitch into creating contemporary abstract cross stitch art works. The process of following patterns or pre-design was abandoned for a creative improvised approach where aida cloth and colour palette are selected; then stitching feelings. Over time, themes of being pulled in different directions, travel, and stars have emerged, among other works. They’re a visual story via abstract shapes using colour range, creating a space to get lost in.
