Neil Boughton

Artist Statement

It is over fifty years since I started my creative journey and forty four since I first worked as a beginner potter in Vladimir Tichy's studio. The road has wandered far and has sometimes narrowed only to widen out again. Inglaze lustre Raku firing has been my favourite technique amongst many. The sponteneity of red hot pots always providing a challenge. Forever an unrepentent dilettante, I have explored media including steel, wood, paint, glass and am currently playing with and developing metal casting techniques with my students.
