Artist Statement

Ric Abel is an established oil painter whose work explores the viscosity of paint and life. An artist and former restauranteur, Ric ran "Bohemian-vibed" restaurants in Manly and Crows Nest and is now based full-time in Robertson. In his current body of work, artist Ric Abel explores a cross-over between street art and personal narrative with a pop graphic edge. Ric was a finalist in the 2013 Blake Prize as well as a finalist in the Archibald's Salon de Rufusés. Formerly represented by Maunsell Wickes, after being recommended to the Paddington gallery by John Olsen, Ric now prefers self-representation.
