INSPIRED BY THE COLOURS, TEXTURES AND PATTERNS IN NATURE, VINTAGE TEXTILES, BUILDINGS AND FOUND OBJECTS

I’m particularly attracted to age and decay in things, and the layering of colour and surface that is created through daily use, and the exposure to weather over time.

Shaz Collyer is an emerging artist based at The SHAC in Robertson. She is currently featured on their online gallery – ARTSfile is pleased to share her story with you.

I have always been drawn to, and inspired by the colours, textures and patterns in nature, vintage textiles, buildings and found objects. I’m particularly attracted to age and decay in things, and the layering of colour and surface that is created through daily use, and the exposure to weather over time. I’m currently exploring these ideas through abstract colour field painting. In the 1990’s I studied at the Julian Ashton Art School, Tom Bass Sculpture School and completed an Associate Diploma of Colour and Design and Diploma of Surface Design and Decoration.
