About the event
The Illawarra Association for the Visual Arts (IAVA) is pleased to present a major group exhibition of works by 21 visual artists from the Illawarra.
The phrase view from the coast is perhaps reminiscent of a postcard sent from a far-away place. IAVA artists are coming as visitors to the Southern Highlands with the salt air in their nostrils.
View from the coast deals with stories, emotion, colour and mark-making. You’ll see the magical, the beautiful, the curious and the odd.
A view can be a personal thing: your own perspective. While most IAVA artists live on or near the coast, everyone’s point of view is different. T.S. Zaracostas has produced works that describe her love of the ocean and playfulness. (image attached.) Award-winning artist Deborah Redwood creates sculptures from a mix of recycled materials, enjoying how objects hold traces of their old stories and histories. (image attached.) There will be sculptures constructed from recycled materials; figures of deities created from clay; drawings and paintings.
Due to COVID we won’t be having an Opening Event as such. All are welcome for coffee and treats throughout the season of the show. We are open 10 till 4 every day.
