Photovoice 2021

In October 2020, after a terrible year, Wingecarribee Shire Council Social Recovery Sub Committee, together with the Southern Highlands Foundation – Fireaid 2020, announced a community photographic competition/exhibition called PhotoVoice.

The aim of the event was to gather emotive imagery embodying community resilience during that horrific time, and renewal in the period since.

The response was very moving; images of the bravery of those who battled the fires, photographs and words revealing the heartbreak and hope of communities in the path of the flames and starting down the road to recovery.

80 images and accompanying text were exhibited at the the Community Halls in Wingello and Balmoral during the ARTS Trail and became a popular and very sober and thoughtful addition to this annual event.

With the launching of the new ARTSfile online EXHIBITIONS feature, the wonderful images from PhotoVoice can now be viewed online. We trust that you will find some hope and sense of recovery in what you see.
