OUR THEME IS RENEWAL & RESILIENCE
Wingecarribee Shire Council Social Recovery Sub Committee, together with the Southern Highlands Foundation/Fireaid, is proud to present this opportunity for our local residents who have been recently affected by the 2019/2020 bushfires that devastated our region.
Ordinary men and women, the firefighters of the Rural Fire Service, became the documented, and continue to capture, moments that represent the resilience and renewal of our community.
To help with this renewal and build resilience after such trauma, we are calling for real and raw images that:
• Capture the bravery of those who battled the fires
• Reveal the heartbreak and hope of communities in the path of the flames and
• Embody their journey to recovery and renewal.
Images may have been taken during the fires during the COVID-19 lockdown or you might go out and look for places and moments that express your own feelings right now. We want everyone to feel they can contribute: absolute amateur to professional – fancy DSLR to a smart phone – just follow your heart.
We would also like you to give us a few words up to 250) about the images you submit up to 3). This can take the form of a simple sentence or paragraph about how you feel about your place after the fires, or even a poem.
Selected images and text will be exhibited here on the ARTSfile website, exhibited at the Community Halls in Wingello and Balmoral, and published in a book which will be available for purchase later in the year.
Entries Open 1 October 2020 and close 22 October 2020
